Bathroom Remodel – Blogtember #8

·
Todays blogtember challenge is all about showing off a glimpse of our home and once again I’m a little late to the party today but refusing to give up the challenge!  At least I have a super excuse as I was nursing my daughter after having her wisdom teeth removed this morning.  No matter how old my babies get, I still love taking care of them.

In July I showed off our kitchen remodel, living room updates and the master bedroom as part of the Show and Tell Home Tour.  I did share a couple of pictures from the bathroom update but wanted to take this post all the way back to the beginning.

Home Tour
I’ve been wanting to share our master bathroom update for awhile now. This project was a long time coming and was handled in stages.  It has been almost two years since we had the cabinets repainted and over a year since the granite was added.  This past spring we updated the shower and the difference has made me so happy!

When we moved into our house 13 years ago, this was the color palette I was working with.  Our master bathroom was covered in this wallpaper and the floor was carpeted.  Removing that carpet was top on my list and necessary before we moved in.  My only regret was choosing tile which complemented this wallpaper.

After removing the wallpaper the floor is not exactly neutral but replacing it is not exactly in the budget.  The counters were marble and, while not in horrible condition, they were a little dated and did receive a few burn marks from my curling iron along the way.

We were also in need of new faucets something terrible.  The last year they were in place I lost track of how many times Keith had to replace gaskets to keep them from dripping.  It was time for an update.

I decided on this granite and really did research on faucets before purchasing.  My end goal now is to update in a way that will add value should we want to sell in the future but also still be functional for our family.  The rectangular sinks were also a change and while I love the way they look, I will say they seem to attract particles along the sides a little more than the oval sinks did.   The faucets are Delta and have been perfect.

I saved the worst for last since it was going to take the most time and money.  We are not the do it yourself kind of people and this for sure was not something we were going to take on.   The shower had seen better days, the door was completely covered in water stains and I was tired of the effort it took to try and keep it looking clean.
Hard to tell in this picture, we also pulled the shower out several inches which created more of a rectangular shape but definitely made this small shower seem a little more spacious.  I was also shocked at how much bigger taking the tile to the ceiling made the space feel.
No regrets making the decision to sink money into this bathroom.  It is so much easier to keep clean!
Since it’s fall, this is one of my very favorite Bath and Body Works candles!
Last little touches on the wall have made me super happy in this space.  I know it seems silly but I actually start my day here and being in a space that feels homey is important to me.
Still needing to add some hooks for towels near the shower and maybe some little shelf or hand towel holder on the far wall and one day I will add new lighting.  For now the floors are not ideal but definitely workable.

Have you transformed a space in your home to make it your very own?
