My Advice - Blogtember #30

Okay friends, it is finally September 30th and the last day of the Blog-tember Challenge hosted by Bailey Jean.   I missed posting 7 prompts but only missed posting 3 days the entire month!  Total record for me since I started this little journey.  I have to say it was a super fun challenge and I learned a little more about what my favorite topics really are to post on. Figuring out I have a really long way to go to learn about vlogging was a big shocker!!  Maybe soon I will have a video for you guys worthy of posting but until then the Blog-tember challenge was my favorite this month!

So what is the last prompt for the challenge?  Picture this, you've been stopped on the street by the photographer of Humans of New York, and he asks, "What advice would you give to a large group of people?" Share a picture of yourself along with the advice.

Hmm.....I've got this one!
The biggest piece of advice I have is don't let your mistakes define you! No one is perfect in this life and mistakes are meant to be opportunities for growth.  I often wonder how differently my life would have been had I realized I had a choice to change my path.  Instead I listened to the lies of others as well as satan himself and believed there was no way out.  I opted to continue to let my mistakes build one on top of another for years because how could I possibly ever be "right" again after all the terrible mistakes I had made.

I would definitely tell a group mistakes make you better!  If you choose to face your fears and shut out the lies you can change your life.  Surround yourself with people who support you and believe in you and who cheer you on along the way.   You are not a sum of your mistakes!

Do you have a piece of advice you would give to a group?

What's Up Wednesday {September}

Today I'm linking up with ShayMel & Sheaffer for this months What's Up Wednesday!  The questions are in green so check it out and join the fun.  Also joining Jessi and Jenn for What's Hap- "Pinning" Wednesday.

This sandwich doesn't look like much but I'm attending a conference in downtown Houston and we dined at Zero's sandwich shoptoday.  Homemade buns, toasted just perfectly and so yummy!

And y'all, my friend Beth mentioned this cereal and I was immediately on my way to find it!  I have so been having a bowl every night for my dessert.
Carly Jo turned 11 last week so I have definitely been reminiscing about this girl and loving the stage she is in right now.  She is just so much fun to be around but also keeps me pretty honest.
This girl y'all!  She wrote a little guest post on Monday and I'm just so loving the strength and hope she has found in her 26th year!  She will celebrate her birthday this coming week and I just cannot wait to see what this next year will hold!
Friends we have had the past THREE weekends at home with no plans!!  It has been amazing.  I have gotten so much and so little done.  Every weekend I have relaxed a little but also tackled a project or two.  I finally painted Carly Jo's room and am almost ready to reveal her big girl room.  Waiting for one last finishing touch!  This weekend we again have zero plans!!
Nothing y'all...I'm dreading nothing and it feels amazing!
Tying up the Blog-temper Challenge! Y'all, I have posted all but one day the month of September, mainly using the prompts from Miss Bailey Jean.  Some have been tough but others have been so much fun.  It was fun to stretch myself a little and I definitely had to be more intentional with my time and plan a little better.
The fall temps!  We received the first little wave of cooler, dryer air this week and it has been heavenly.  I have been super stoked to pull out my scarves.  Tall boots are next!
I am STILL reading this book!! I'm not gonna lie.  I'm almost over it and if I don't finish this weekend I may just have to write it off.  It't not that it isn't a good book but it is soooooo long!  So i f you  have lots of time to kill and don't have a short attention span then  The Royal We is definitely one worth picking up.
Seriously, if you are NOT watching this show yet stop reading my blog right now and go do whatever it takes to catch up!!!  Y'all, I  have not started a series from the first episode in YEARS and I am super excited about this one.
I'm also recording the Voice and I am LOVING it.  I'm kind of over Blake Shelton but other than that it has been so much fun to watch and I have been a little teary eyed more than once over the auditions.  Carly and Dillon are watching with me so that has also given us a little time to "hang" which I'm always a fan of!
A few weeks back I was at a mom's meeting and all of a sudden one of the ladies said "Alexa stop", and I thought I knew everyone in the room and was so confused.  Holy moly, sometimes I'm certain I live under a rock y'all!!  So of course once I found out what Alexa was and saw Amazon had a deal on the Amazon Tap one Saturday morning, I quickly ordered.  What I did not know is that tap meant you actually had to touch the device to order it around instead of just speaking.  Other than that I have been listening to Alexa constantly!  We have loved asking her to play dinner music from prime music and I even asked for some cleaning music and she found something peppy!   I will say, if I had to do it over I would probably order the Amazon EchoAmazon Echo but the one thing I do love about the Tap is it can be moved from room to room very easily and from what I understand the Echo has to stay plugged in .  I am NOT techy so I'm sure there is more to learn!
Fall Style
Lots of items I can transition like this sleeveless swing dress paired with a black blazer.
These Tom's wine booties have already been pounding the pavement!
Fall colors and...told ya here are the Tom's booties again!
Fall patterns like this buffalo plaid and leopard and these black booties are also on repeat.
Dressing up camo for work and wearing these fave flats from last year.
And of course a great scarf now that I won't smother.
Last weekend I moved the little kid furniture out of Dillon's room and exchanged it with our old master bedroom furniture.  This weekend I'm hoping to work with Keith to install this shelving.  Hopefully his new bedding will also make it by the weekend and I can show you guys pictures of this upgraded big boy space.
October is my birthday month....and I share it with Jordan, Riley and Keith!  Riley will be home from Florida just in time for his birthday and I just always love knowing I'm going to have all my peeps together so many times!
Can't think of another thing!

Hope you all have a super Wednesday!

Spiel the Beans - Pinning Blindly

Welcome to the Spiel the Beans Linkup today where Katy and I are sharing some of our Favorite Pinterest Pins....that we know we will never try but Pin anyway!

If you have been around the blog this September, you know I've been participating in the Blog-tember Challenge.  The prompt for today is to identify something that made me laugh or cry recently. Last week I asked my oldest daughter if she might be ready to write a guest post for the blog again and I was so excited for her to answer yes!  Y'all, her post, For the Overthinker, definitely made me tear up a bit!!

Now, preparing for this Spiel the Beans Linkup today, however, definitely made me laugh! Y'all, seriously, I often wonder how much wine I may have already consumed prior to pinning some of these!  I mean, I'm all about a good craft project but I'm also extremely impatient, hate cleaning up a mess and literally can use zero power tools!!  Here are just a few of the Pins I saved that, while brilliant, I'm confident I will never, ever try!
Holy colorful hell....I mean really?  Did I really think I was going to try this?  I'm not sure there is enough wine.  Carly was just sitting beside me as I pulled this together and she was all "mom, we should do this!".  I'll let you guys know if this one makes it to our house!
All I'm going to say is no.  I would pay twice as much to just buy this already put together!!  Lazy, that is what I am but evidently I was feeling industrious the day I pinned this!
Right!  I can't tell you how many times I've dreamed of using a jigsaw and cutting out all kinds of those cute little Christmas cut outs for the front yard.  Only problem?  I'm deathly afraid of losing a finger.  People who can turn a piece of plywood into art amaze the hell out of me!  I love this.

Now it's your turn to Pin it to Win it!  Share your favorite Pinterest Pins, your Pinterest fails or your Pins you know you will never do!   Please link to your specific post URL and not to your blog home page.
Please place a link back to this link-up in either your post or on your party page so that others can link up too.  It's a party, try to visit at least 2 other posts and show them some love!  This is the fun part! Be inspired, inspire someone else - don't just link and run!

We would love, love, love for you to follow us on some form of social media!

For the Overthinker - Guest Post - Blogtember #26

Today, the Blog-tember Challenge prompted a guest post.  I'm not going to lie; I loved this for both the post I'm sharing and the fact I was able to take a day off from writing my own post!  In July, my daughter, Jordan, shared some hope through her Bullet Journal Feels.  Well today she is sharing some thoughts on her life as an over-thinker.  I may be a little partial but I'm pretty sure this girl should start her own blog!
I overthink everything. The people closest to me know this. Most of them have witnessed and participated in conversations in which I am obsessing over and analyzing things that are quite obviously out of my control. I do this constantly; probably more than they know. What I’ve learned is that worrying about things I cannot control breeds insecurity. Though I consider myself a confident person, I realize that my confidence breaks down when I cannot control another person’s actions or the outcome of a situation. I become suddenly unsure of myself and overwhelmed with doubt; obsessed with “what if” and “what could have been.” Lately, when I’m feeling miserably uncertain, I turn to my journal.

I wrote one of my favorite entries after a friend of mine sent me “8 Bible Verses for the Over thinker.” I frequently go back there, to pages 68-73, so that I may be reminded that my lack of control is a good thing. Because He is in control. Overthinking won’t answer the questions I have, but He will.
Whenever you feel unloved, unimportant, or insecure, remember to whom you belong to. - Ephesians 2:19-22
It’s taken me almost 26 years to understand I cannot be a confident person without confidence in Him. I ended my entry with a prayer; one I pray often.
I don’t want uncertainty to make me insecure. I want to be confident; more than that, I want to be captivating. Fill me up with so much of your love that it shines forth for everyone in the room to see. Help me retain the grace you so wish for me to portray.
I have not been cured of my tendency to overthink; however, I do try harder to keep a smile on my face and my head held high. I am confident that good things are coming. I will have all the answers I need in time. While I wait I will stay strong, keep living, and kill my hurt with joy. I want to be so happy that I can’t be ignored. I will be the person God wants me to be: dignified, strong, and faithful.

She is clothed in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future. Proverbs 31:25

Y'all, I am one proud mom just in case you were wondering!  Don't forget to come back tomorrow and share with Katy & I as we Spiel the Beans about all those Pinterest pins we keep on pinning but will probably never get around to!
