What's Up Wednesday {August}

Today I'm linking up with ShayMel & Sheaffer for this months What's Up Wednesday!  The questions are in green so check it out and join the fun.  Also joining Jessi and Jenn for What's Hap- "Pinning" Wednesday.

WHAT WE'RE EATING THIS WEEK....
This is one of my families favorites! Bone in pork chops are the most flavorful but they will fall to pieces so I'm always super careful to remove bones.  We have definitely been on a green bean kick lately too.
This was a huge hit with my family and it will definitely be appearing again soon!  I tossed sliced deer sausage, corn on the cob, red potatoes, zucchini and squash with some cajun seasoning and olive oil and wrapped in tin foil.  I wrapped about 8 of these in dinner size portions but in the future I really think I will opt to make one large portion.  We grilled for about 30 minutes but you could also make in the oven on 425.

WHAT I'M REMINISCING ABOUT....
I feel like August has been all about looking back!  Keith and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary and I took a little look back and shared 15 Tips to Build a Stronger Marriage.
And of course....reminiscing about how fast time goes by as I browse through all the back to school pictures!  I wrote a little about how this back to school growth and change affects us parents too!

WHAT I'M LOVING....
Pumpkin spice and everything nice....that's what I'm loving about this season!  The season when anything pumpkin goes and where this girl still loves being in the kitchen with me.  Pumpkin Chocolate Chip muffins were just what we needed this week!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO...
We definitely know how to wrap up the summer!  After a long weekend in Port Aransas and a girls getaway to San Antonio, I closed out the summer with a Mom's only weekend in Austin with these two lovelies.

WHAT I'M DREADING....
Maybe not actually dreading, but I am anxiously anticipating a contrast MRI of my hip.  Since training for a 1/2 marathon back in 2011, I've been battling off and on with what I thought was bursitis.  Doctor wants to rule out anything more serious as the last 6 months I have not been able to get it under control.

WHAT I'M WORKING ON....
Time management!  I am trying a new work schedule a few days a week which means an earlier start to the day.  Time management is not my strong suit AT ALL but I have successfully planned our meals for the week and my outfits for the week on Sunday which has made a huge difference.

WHAT I'M EXCITED ABOUT....
Dillon is playing freshman football and we missed his first game out of town last week.  I'm super excited to see them play on Thursday!  Go Cougars!

WHAT I'M WATCHING/READING....
I started this book and have not had nearly enough time to read and the anticipation is killing me!  The Royal We is definitely one worth picking up.
Looking for ways to win in the kitchen?  The latest cookbook from Shay is full of go-to meals your family will love!  Carly Jo has already bookmarked all the recipes she wants to try beginning with the Nutella Whoopie Pies!  You can pre-order your copy of Mix-and-Match Mama Eats: Crazy Good Go-To Meals and believe me these make amazing gifts for teachers and family members!

WHAT I'M LISTENING TO....
My sweet daughter, Jordan, gifted us tickets to see Charlie Robison last Thursday night and it was such a great show!  The music left me craving all the music Keith and I listened to when we were dating.
This girl probably should NOT know these songs so well, or at least not because she was listening to them at 10!  So thoughtful to give us such a meaningful gift!

WHAT I'M WEARING....
I've been shopping my closet for old favorites but combining with new fall shoes I picked up during the anniversary sale!  I seriously never dreamed I would have so many outfits to wear these wine booties with.  Plus they will be perfect for Aggie games once the weather cools off.  The Halogen block heels (similar here) I'm sure will be the perfect neutral this fall and I was loving how they came together to support this funky maxi I just cannot seem to part with even after 8 years!!  The Vince Camuto booties have also been on major repeat the past two weeks and I'm loving how fun they look as I dressed down this black lace dress.

WHAT I'M DOING THIS WEEKEND....
On the blog yesterday I shared my favorite football team to cheer for and this Saturday is opening day at Kyle Field for the 2016 Aggie football season.  Super excited to be there to watch the Aggies BTHO UCLA!

WHAT AM I LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH...
Even though Carly Jo opted for a girls getaway instead of a party this year,  I am still looking forward to celebrating my baby turning 11!  My youngest little baby....I'm going to soak it up!
I'm also so excited to begin pulling out all my fall favorites!  I already ordered a few new candles...eek!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW....
Most of you know this kid has been back in Florida rehabbing his arm since mid-July but he has a few days off and will be coming in Friday night.  No matter how old  your babies get, it's always so excited when they come home.  There will hopefully be lots of dove hunting and family dinner time before he heads back.

BONUS:  FAVORITE TRANSITIONAL PIECE FOR FALL....
Umm...I cannot pick just one!  It will still be warm in Texas for a bit but adding a lightweight scarf is definitely one way I have begun to transition.
Adding pops of fall colors like mustard or wine and bringing out all the fall booties has been fun.   The peep toe booties have definitely made the transition easier and as you can see the Toms booties made yet another appearance!

Hope you all have a super Wednesday!

Football Mania + Spiel the Beans Linkup

Welcome to the Spiel the Beans Linkup today where Katy and I are asking who are ya rootin' for?  We are sharing our favorite football team and would love for you to linkup yours!
Football Season
So I am asked all the time if I am an Aggie.  I never know quite how to answer as, you see, the Aggie Spirit is pretty fierce and they take things pretty seriously and I didn't actually graduate from Texas A&M.  While my degree is from Sam Houston State, I was a commuter student and never really had the student experience but I've worked for Texas A&M for almost 25 years and have celebrated the ups and downs cheering on the Aggies.  If you have ever been to Kyle Field on a Saturday, you would know it's really hard not to get sucked in!  It has always been loud but after a $450M+ renovation it should seriously be on everyone's bucket list if you love college football!
The Spirit of Aggieland is real and the story of the 12th Man gets me every single time! Not only does the student section stay the entire game, the students stand the entire game!  You just cannot spend a day at Kyle Field and NOT feel the excitement.
Of course it all gets started with the overall Aggie gameday experience!  The first year A&M played Alabama after moving to the SEC our little town was all a buzz.  Holly and I could not wait to take the kids to campus and the night before to stir the excitement for gameday.  They of course ended up swimming in Fish Pond and we ended up with this priceless photo op!
Pregame includes the Corps march in along with the Aggie Band!
Lots of games and activities for the kids!
And plenty of photo ops!
Another big reason to visit Kyle Field?  The Aggies never, ever lose halftime!  The Aggie band is incredible and it never gets old!
This was one of the most exciting games I've ever attended at Kyle Field maybe because we just sucked it up and went in the pouring rain or maybe because we beat tu (otherwise known as the University of Texas) 27-16 or it could have been because these girls were just so much fun!
My kids have grown up with Aggie Football and I love taking a look back at the pictures.  I think they would all tell you they have such great memories at Kyle Field, even Riley who eventually chose TCU.  So many great memories with all of my favorite people!
I can just see these four singing the war him together for years to come! Hey...a mom can dream!
The only thing bigger than the crowd at Kyle Field is the amount of tailgating.  On Friday at noon a horn blows signaling all the tailgaters they can officially stake their claim on campus real estate. Some out of towners actually pay someone to do this for them!!  Cracks me up but I am not going to complain as we have enjoyed many a tailgate over the years with yummy food and cold beer.  And yes, one of our friends actually brought "Bevo" before one of the games for a photo op.  I love catching up with friends old and new on football weekends!
I promise these cans were empty, but don't think these pictures won't resurface sometime when they head to college!  These girls are messes.
Traveling with the Aggies has also been a highlight! These girls and I made a road trip to St. Louis in 1998.  Oh my goodness this game was so freaking exciting as the Aggies won the Big XII Championship against Kansas State 36-33 in double overtime!    We were super broke and really had no business going but the road trip was totally worth it.
The results weren't as exciting but we still had fun traveling to California to the Holiday Bowl in 2006!
One more family road trip to San Antonio to see the Aggies in the Alamo Bowl in 2007.  We have only traveled to one additional bowl game since and decided we were bad luck!  Dillon now goes with my sister-in-law and the Aggies have performed much better...ha!
Speaking of Aunt Amy, she is the best when it comes to supporting the Aggies with goodie bags and special treats!  My kids can always count on lots of Aggie goodies and the McBerty kids have adopted her as well.

I seriously could go on, and on and on!  Lucky for you I still have most of my pictures on my old Mac!  If you ever find yourself in College Station, even on a non-game weekend, you should definitely add a tour of Kyle Field to your travel plans.  You can find more information on tours here.

Now it's your turn to share your favorite team! Please link to your specific post URL and not to your blog home page.
Please place a link back to this link-up in either your post or on your party page so that others can link up too.  It's a party, try to visit at least 2 other posts and show them some love!  This is the fun part! Be inspired, inspire someone else - don't just link and run!
